TANDEM

Agitation design with fluid simulation

Before manufacturing, our engineers study the process with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software and parametric modelling. This predicts how the flow will behave in the tank and lets us choose the propeller type, its position and the power needed to achieve a homogeneous mix with the lowest consumption.

The result is equipment tailored to each product and each tank, including agitation applications under vacuum or pressure.

Frequently asked questions about InoxMIM industrial agitators

What types of industrial agitators does InoxMIM manufacture?

Vertical agitators (direct-drive, portable, geared, for IBC and counter-rotating), side-entry agitators, vertical, bottom-entry and inline emulsifiers, a microniser, and turbine and powder-into-liquid mixers. There are 19 models in all, each with its own technical data sheet.

What is the difference between a vertical and a side-entry agitator?

The vertical agitator is mounted on top of the tank and is the most versatile: it dissolves, disperses and works with viscous products. The side-entry agitator is installed at an angle in the lower part of the tank and is very efficient at mixing and maintaining large volumes and preventing solids from settling.

When do you need an emulsifier instead of an agitator?

When you have to mix phases that do not mix on their own, such as water and oil, or reduce the droplet or particle size. An agitator moves and homogenises; a rotor-stator emulsifier applies high shear to create stable emulsions.

In which sectors are InoxMIM agitators used?

In the food industry (sauces, dairy products, beverages), in wineries, in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals (creams, lotions, gels), in chemicals and in water treatment.

How is an agitation system designed?

The starting point is the product (viscosity, density, solids), the tank and the result required. With this data, our engineers simulate the flow with CFD software and choose the type of agitator, the propeller, its position and the power.

Does InoxMIM offer custom agitators?

Yes. In addition to the catalogue models, we adapt motors, flanges, shaft lengths and propellers, and we design special agitation systems for each process.
