What are the LECOR and LMRE side-entry agitators for?
The LECOR and LMRE geared side-entry agitators mix and maintain products stored in medium and large tanks. They are installed in the lower part of the tank, at an angle of inclination and a distance from the bottom that depend on the shape and dimensions of the tank. The propeller type is chosen according to the product, the agitation requirements, the tank geometry and the position of the agitator, to obtain maximum performance at minimum operating cost.
In the industrial version they are used in heat exchange, chemical reactions, dissolving, diluting and mixing reagents, and for homogenising or keeping in suspension oils, sludge, slurries, waste water, urea, ammonium sulphate, glues, melamine, latex or resins.
In the food or sanitary version they are ideal for cooling and storing milk at low temperature in insulated tanks: they work at low rpm, provide a circulation pattern that promotes heat exchange, and their propellers prevent protein breakdown. Inside, the shaft is sealed with a mechanical seal, and on the outside it can have a safety packing gland for greater tightness and hygiene.
This is the right equipment if…
- You need to cool and store milk in insulated tanks, keep juices and soft drinks in motion, or dilute whey.
- You are agitating a medium or large tank and want slow rotation with a geared motor.
- You work with sludge, slurries, waste water, resins, latex or other industrial products in suspension.
- You need power ratings of up to 22 kW and GAMMA or MARINA propellers of up to 800 mm.
Choose other equipment if…
- The tank is small: the LMDS compact side-entry agitator is enough.
- You want a portable agitator for blending in the winery: the LV wine agitator is better.
- The process calls for emulsifying or dispersing with high shear: an EM vertical emulsifier or an EML/EMLT inline high-shear mixer is better.
- The tank does not accept a side flange: see the vertical agitators.

Frequently asked questions about the LECOR/LMRE geared side-entry agitator
What is the difference between the LECOR and the LMRE?
The size range. The LECOR has 8 sizes, from 0.37 to 4 kW, with propellers from 300 to 650 mm and a flange from DN 150 to DN 250. The LMRE goes up to 22 kW in 15 sizes, with propellers from 250 to 800 mm and a flange from DN 125 to DN 300. Both have a helical geared motor.
Are they suitable for cooling and storing milk in insulated tanks?
Yes, in their food or sanitary version. They work at low rpm and provide a circulation pattern that promotes heat exchange, and their propellers prevent protein breakdown, so the milk keeps its properties.
What is the difference between the industrial and the food version?
The final finish: industrial in one case, food or sanitary in the other. The dimensions are the same. The industrial version can also have anti-corrosion or anti-wear coatings on the shaft and propeller.
At what height and angle is it installed?
According to the catalogue, the propeller is positioned at a height H of 2 to 2.5 times its diameter D. The mounting angles depend on the ratio between the diameter (A) and the height (L) of the tank: from β 5° and μ 15° with A/L = 2, to β 65° and μ 0° with A/L = 0.16.
What shaft sealing does it have?
A C/C/N single mechanical seal in the area in contact with the product. On the outside it can have a safety packing gland, and as an option it is supplied with an S/S/V and/or double mechanical seal.
Can the agitation speed be adjusted?
Yes, with a mechanical or frequency inverter speed control, offered as an option. Together with the control panel, it allows the agitation to be adapted to each phase of the process.
