What is the TURBINE turbine mixer for?
The TURBINE is a vertical turbine mixer for products that need a low degree of shear and a homogeneous result. The high speed of the turbine creates the suction that sets the liquid in circulation: part of the product receives a radial flow that shears it, and the rest is directed towards the bottom of the tank by the axial flow.
This flow pattern prevents the tank contents from swirling, and the channelled body increases the pumping capacity, so it mixes small and medium volumes well without baffles. The mounting system and the mechanical seal allow it to be fitted in nitrogen-blanketed, positive-pressure or vacuum tanks. It is used to homogenise, disperse, suspend, emulsify, crystallise, dissolve and improve heat exchange.
This is the right equipment if…
- You need to mix or homogenise with low shear.
- The tank is small or medium-sized and has no baffles.
- The tank is nitrogen-blanketed, pressurised or under vacuum.
- You prepare sauces, brines, gels or creams, or dissolve powders, additives and thickeners.
Choose other equipment if…
- You need high shear to emulsify viscous products: the EMV/EMVT emulsifier or the EM vertical emulsifier is better.
- You want to mix or emulsify continuously, in the pipeline: the EML/EMLT inline high-shear mixer is better.
- Your main operation is incorporating powder into a liquid: the EMTB solid-liquid mixer is the better choice.
- You only need to agitate a tank, without shear: see the vertical agitators.
Applications by industry
Where the TURBINE is typically used:
Food industry
Mayonnaises, sauces and brines, and dissolving powdered foods, additives, thickeners and preservatives.
Cosmetics
Cosmetic creams and gels, with a sanitary finish.
Pharmaceuticals
Low-shear homogenisation, suspensions and dissolution.
Chemicals
Dispersion, crystallisation, dissolution and improved heat exchange in tanks.
Features and benefits
VORTEX turbine
Creates the suction that starts the circulation and combines radial and axial flow.
Low shear
Mixes and homogenises without subjecting the product to high shear stress.
No baffles
The slotted, channelled body increases pumping and prevents the contents from swirling.
Vacuum or pressure
Mounting and W/W/V mechanical seal for nitrogen-blanketed, pressurised or vacuum tanks.
Sanitary finish
Shaft and propeller in AISI 316; non-submerged parts in AISI 304.
Six sizes
From 0.25 to 11 kW, with IEC or DIN 2576 PN10 flange.
Models in the series
Six sizes, from 0.25 to 11 kW. The first number in the code is the motor power in kW. We will help you choose the size according to the product and the tank.

Frequently asked questions about the TURBINE vertical turbine mixer
What is the difference between the TURBINE and an emulsifier?
Does the tank need baffles?
No. Its flow pattern prevents the contents from swirling and the channelled body increases the pumping capacity, so it achieves effective mixing in small and medium volumes without baffles.
Can it be installed in a pressurised or vacuum tank?
Yes. The mounting system and the mechanical seal allow it to be installed in nitrogen-blanketed, positive-pressure or vacuum tanks.
What products does it mix?
Mayonnaises, sauces, brines, powdered foods, additives, thickeners, preservatives, cosmetic creams and gels, among others. It is also used to suspend, crystallise and improve heat exchange.
How is it mounted on the tank?
With an IEC or DIN 2576 PN10 type mounting flange, depending on the model, from IEC 160 to IEC 350 or from DN125 to DN300. On request it is supplied with other flanges and with a lifting system.
What maintenance does it need?
Very little. The mechanical seal and the condition of the turbine should be checked periodically, and it should not be run dry with the tank empty.
