What is the IBC mixer for?
The InoxMIM IBC mixer is a vertical agitator widely used in the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries for its high efficiency, high degree of agitation and low cost. It is used for dilution, dissolving and homogenising, maintaining products, suspensions and chemical or thermal homogenisation.
Its versatility lies in the different propeller sizes and types it accepts, with one or more impellers of the same or different types, and in the coaxial geared motor, which offers a choice from a wide range of speeds. The sanitary finish and its design allow it to work in safe conditions and with a high level of hygiene.
This is the right equipment if…
- You are agitating product in IBC containers or pharmaceutical or cosmetic tanks.
- You need a sanitary finish and wetted parts in AISI 316L.
- You carry out dilution, dissolving, suspension or thermal homogenisation.
- You want to choose the speed and combine one or more impellers to suit the mixture.
Choose other equipment if…
- You need to emulsify or disperse with high shear: an EM vertical emulsifier is the better choice.
- The product is very viscous and calls for large blades at low speed: the GFL/GFLE is better.
- The tank is medium-sized (2,000 to 15,000 litres): the VMD/VMR is better.
- You want a portable clamp-mounted agitator for open tanks: the SB/SBR/SBN is better.

Frequently asked questions about the IBC mixer
What is an IBC mixer?
It is a vertical agitator mounted on an IBC container or a tank to mix or homogenise its contents. The InoxMIM model has a coaxial geared motor, a sanitary finish and wetted parts in AISI 316L.
What agitation speed does it have?
It is chosen according to the product. The coaxial geared motor offers a wide range of speeds and, as an option, a variable speed drive can be added.
Which propeller does it have?
Whichever the mixture requires. It accepts different propeller sizes and types, and one or more impellers of the same or different types can be fitted on the same shaft.
How is it fixed to the container or tank?
With an IEC-type flange (160, 200 or 250) or with a 250, 300 or 400 mm square plate. Other anchor flanges are made on request.
Is it suitable for the pharmaceutical industry?
Yes, that is its main use, together with cosmetics. It has a sanitary finish and wetted parts in AISI 316L and, on request, in AISI 904L or Hastelloy.
How is it cleaned between batches?
It is easy to remove, and the shaft and impellers are cleaned outside the container. The sanitary finish reduces product adhesion and makes cleaning easier.
