What is the FL-EF progressive cavity pump for?
Progressive cavity pumps, also known as helical rotor pumps, are positive displacement pumps: a helical rotor turns inside an elastomer stator and together they form cavities that advance from suction to discharge. The product moves without being churned, which is why they are used for delicate or viscous liquids.
The FL-EF is the most compact version in the InoxMIM range, with a nitrile floating stator. It is designed for pumping wines, musts, oils, juices and preserves that need particular care during transfer. The parts in contact with the product are made of AISI 316 stainless steel, the mechanical seal is C/C/N and the standard connections are GAS threaded, from 1" to 2" depending on size.

This is the right pump if…
- You transfer wine, must, oil, juices or preserves and do not want to damage the product.
- You need small flow rates, from 0.3 to 8 m³/h, and heads of up to 50 m head
- You are looking for a compact pump with GAS connections and a food or industrial finish.
- You want to move it between points in the winery or plant on a trolley.
Choose other equipment if…
- You need more flow or more pressure (up to 24 bar in several stages) or DIN 11851 connections: the FL-ERB progressive cavity pump is better.
- You need to move destemmed grapes or grape paste: the FL-ERTV with hopper or the FL-EREX with feeder is the better choice.
- The pump may run without product or needs to reverse direction: an FL-PT peristaltic pump is better.
- It is a low-viscosity liquid and you need a high flow rate: a centrifugal pump is enough.
Applications by industry
Products the FL-EF was designed for:
Wines and musts
Transfer of wine and must with careful product handling and flow rates of up to 8 m³/h.
Juices
Pumping juices that should not be churned or sheared.
Oils
Transfer of oils with a positive displacement pump and AISI 316 wetted parts.
Preserves
Canning industry products that need particular care during transfer.
Features and benefits
Careful transfer
The helical rotor moves the product inside the stator without churning it: suitable for wines, musts and juices.
Nitrile floating stator
Nitrile floating stator and gaskets as standard on all four sizes.
AISI 316 wetted parts
All parts in contact with the product are made of AISI 316 stainless steel.
Mechanical seal C/C/N
C/C/N mechanical seal as standard across the range.
Flow rate by speed
In a progressive cavity pump the flow rate depends on the speed; it can be adjusted with the optional mechanical disc variable speed drive.
Four compact sizes
From the FL15EF (0.25 kW) to the FL40EFB (2.2 kW), with GAS connections from 1" to 2".
Series models and selection areas
Choose the model by the flow rate you need. All of them reach 50 m head.
| Model | Motor | Speed | Max. flow rate | Max. head | Connections |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| FL15EF | 0.25 kW | 1,500 rpm | 0.3 m³/h | 50 m head | 1" GAS |
| FL30EF | 0.75 kW | 1,500 rpm | 2.5 m³/h | 50 m head | 1 ¼" GAS |
| FL40EF | 1.1 kW | 1,000 rpm | 3.8 m³/h | 50 m head | 2" GAS |
| FL40EFB | 2.2 kW | 615 rpm | 8.0 m³/h | 50 m head | 2" GAS |
Values from the model table in the FLUIDMIM catalogue. The selection areas show the flow rate by rotation speed, from 0 to 5 bar. Other connections on request.

Frequently asked questions about the FL-EF small progressive cavity pump with floating stator
What flow rate and pressure does each FL-EF model deliver?
All of them reach 50 m head and differ in flow rate: the FL15EF delivers 0.3 m³/h, the FL30EF 2.5 m³/h, the FL40EF 3.8 m³/h and the FL40EFB 8 m³/h. Power ratings range from 0.25 to 2.2 kW.
What is the stator of a progressive cavity pump?
It is the elastomer part with an internal helical cavity inside which the rotor turns. Together they form closed cavities that push the product towards the discharge. On the FL-EF the stator is made of nitrile and is the main wear part of the pump.
What is the difference between the FL-EF and the FL-ERB?
The FL-EF is the compact option: up to 8 m³/h, GAS connections and a nitrile stator. The FL-ERB comes in seven sizes with DIN 11851 connections from DN25 to DN100, in sanitary, food or industrial versions and with 1 to 4 stages, up to 24 bar.
What connections can it have?
As standard, GAS thread: 1" on the FL15EF, 1 ¼" on the FL30EF and 2" on the FL40EF and FL40EFB. On request it is supplied with DIN 11851, SMS, CLAMP or RJT.
Can the flow rate be adjusted?
Yes. In a progressive cavity pump the flow rate is proportional to the rotation speed, and the FL-EF accepts a mechanical disc variable speed drive to adjust it. The selection areas in the catalogue show the flow rate of each model according to the speed.
Can it run dry?
It is not advisable. The product itself lubricates and cools the contact between rotor and stator; if the pump runs without liquid, the stator heats up and wears very quickly. Make sure the suction is primed before starting.
