SB/SBR/SBN Vertical Agitators
Within the wide range of mixing solutions, SB, SBR, and SBN portable vertical agitators provide a high degree of agitation in small volume tanks.
Thanks to their compact, lightweight design and simple clamp anchoring system, they are extremely versatile pieces of equipment, ideal for agitation in open tanks, dispersion of reagents, dispersion of powders, and maintaining homogeneous mixtures. Their innovative mechanical architecture, which includes an aluminum turret, guarantees a long service life even under demanding working conditions.

The SB, SBR, and SBN series vertical agitators represent the portable solution par excellence within InoxMIM's fluid engineering catalog. These units have been meticulously designed to offer immediate operability and a high degree of agitation in small volume tanks.
Their main competitive advantage lies in the fastening system: by incorporating a clamp anchor, the operator can move the equipment from one tank to another and fix it to the edge of open tanks in a matter of seconds, without the need for complex installations with fixed bolted flanges.
At the mechanical design level, the most outstanding element of this series is the reinforcing turret. This piece, solidly constructed from cast aluminum, acts as an intermediate support between the motor and the shaft. The reinforcing turret absorbs the radial and axial loads generated by fluid turbulence, which significantly extends the motor's life, increases its structural resistance, and allows for a greater shaft length to be installed without the risk of buckling or excessive vibrations.
Furthermore, kinetic energy transmission is carried out intelligently. The semi-shaft transmission system facilitates the interchangeability of agitator elements if used for different tanks and/or applications.
This means that, with a single motor head, the plant can have several shafts of different lengths or with different propeller profiles (for example, a MARINE or COWLESS type propeller), adapting the equipment to the exact rheology of each production batch. All this allows operation with a high degree of sanitization, as quick disassembly facilitates offline cleaning protocols (COP - Cleaning Out of Place).
- Drive Variants: Depending on the fluid viscosity and the type of mixture, the equipment is configured as SB (high-speed direct motor for vigorous, low-viscosity mixtures), SBR (equipped with a gearmotor to reduce revolutions and increase torque, ideal for denser fluids or delicate suspensions), or SBN, which incorporates a pneumatic motor. This last option is critical for plants operating in explosive atmospheres (ATEX zones) where electrical energy poses a risk, operating safely only with compressed air.
- Special Coatings: Although the standard shaft and propeller are manufactured from AISI 316 stainless steel, certain chemical reagents in water treatment are highly corrosive (such as hydrochloric acid or ferric chloride). For these cases, InoxMIM offers coating the shaft and propeller with inert materials such as PVC, PE, or resins, creating a total barrier against metallic corrosion.
- Hydrodynamic Flexibility: If the process requires a flow pattern different from axial, it is possible to install other types of propellers, such as radial turbines for gas dispersion or flat blades, taking advantage of the interchangeable semi-shaft design. That is, they can use AXIAL, RUSHTON, COWLESS, or PADDLE type propellers as required.
- Integrated Control: The equipment can optionally be supplied with a control panel, giving the operator total control over the motor's on/off and thermal protection at the tank.
- Dimension A (Outer diameter): 165 mm.
- Dimension B (Distance between centers): 128 mm.
- Dimension C (Hole diameter): 13 mm.
- Distribution (number of holes): 4x90°.
- Dimension M (Approximate maximum clamp opening): 40 mm.
- Water Treatment and Purification: These are essential pieces of equipment for the dispersion of reagents in purification plants. They are fixed to the edge of open tanks for preparing coagulants, flocculants, or lime slurries, where the MARINE propeller generates the axial flow necessary to prevent the decantation of heavy particles.
- Chemical and Cosmetic Industry: They are optimal for the dispersion of powders in liquid bases, such as the preparation of detergents, low-density gels, dyes, or acid dilutions. With the support of the reinforcing turret, they can operate for hours, keeping the components perfectly emulsified.
- Food Industry: They are frequently used for maintaining mixtures in buffer tanks. For example, to prevent phase separation in brines, simple syrups, or during the dosing of liquid additives and preservatives in small or medium batches, always ensuring maximum hygiene thanks to the high quality of their AISI 316 stainless steel.
